I examined the need of drones at arctic research stations, as part of the EU initiative ɪɴᴛᴇʀᴀᴄᴛ.
I charted the researchers’ relationships with new technology using a variant on Customer Journey Mapping, and looked at how arctic climates affect drone technology.
A challenge in this project was to get insights of the work habits of researchers in very niche academic fields. Getting access to the interesting world of arctic research meant listening careful to their methodology.
A site visit to Tarfala research station in northern Sweden allowed us to conduct flight tests with the researchers present, and to study their experiences first-hand.
Together with Maria Ader.
Following this project, Ader and I co-authored an official EU report on the subject of drone legislation.
