Forget Millennials, the gardening world is still ruled by those who return, year after year: the Perennials.
Perennial Garden Tools is a project I did for an intensive design studio course at Iowa State University, together with Brad Wicks and Josefine Johansson.
In this project, we used iterative sketching, rendering and blue foam modelling to incorporate new insights from user testing throughout the project.
A local gardening club for seniors were kind enough to be interviewed on several occasions, and later partook in our ergonomics study.
We created the fictional brand Perennial to symbolize our shared design language and materials, and philosophy.
Final design prototypes with moving parts were constructed from foam, acrylic and metal.
